I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere as fabulous as Palm Springs. I have a great memory of eating at an imaginative Japanese restaurant on the main strip, taking it all in: gorgeous desert scenery, interesting people watching, and of course, the mid-century GLORY of it all. Seriously, it’s like time stopped in the sixties…and it is WONDERFUL.
So naturally, what could be more fabulous than a pug lounging poolside in Palm Springs? I simply had to make this painting.
I chose to paint every line with a brush, instead of using a fineliner pen like I usually do. I did this because I wanted to amp up the imperfect, folk art feel. I am trying to step more and more away from very literal paintings. I want them all to feel like a dream.
So, welcome to this particular imperfect little corner of my mind, where’s it’s always sunny and exactly the right temperature for swimming.
It’s available now as a print…and the original is up for grabs, too!
