And I’m finally back! Sort of! Everyone in my house is sick with colds, and I feel like I’ve forgotten how to paint. Or more accurately, I feel like my brain has been reset / short circuited / expanded and I’m open to many more ideas than I was previously, and it’s making me paint differently. Also, after a good long step back, I’m very gingerly getting back into things because I’d like to do things differently… I’m just not 100% sure what that looks like yet. I have SO much to say after my trip, but I’m thinking that’s another post entirely. Anyway:
I’ve had the idea to paint a “You Are My Favorite Human” painting for a very long time. I first scrawled that phrase down years ago, during my Chickenpants days. It sat on my desk in post it note form until I moved, but I never forgot the phrase. Finally, here it is.
This could also be called “The Painting That Took A Surprisingly Long Time To Complete Because AHHHHH 1,000 Layers”. Seriously, look at this:
There are tiny vintage & other collage elements worked in there, underneath layers and layers and layers of paint and various marking tools. I especially love the tiny score card in the top right corner. I found it wedged into some furniture in my Grandmother’s house during my recent trip!
If you’d like to give this to your favorite human, it’s available as a print! You can pick up a copy right here.
