The 2017 Portland Pug Crawl was SO much fun! This year’s theme was Pugs On Broadway. I don’t even know how to begin to describe the event to you, but here goes:
Okay, imagine what seems like thousands of pugs, many dressed up in boradway musical themed costumes, walking around with their humans. Songs from musicals fill the air (“Every-thing’s com-ing up PUGGGGGS!”), along with the snuffling, snorting, and wheezing of a thousand pugs. Every few minutes, another pug would pop in under my table looking for shade and possibly dropped food AND I WOULD GET TO PET IT!
So, basically the best day ever.
I was only able to take a few photos, but here they are:
This Puglight Express float was very impressive! Not pictured: matching costumed humans.
I really liked this hipster take on The Little Mermaid. Top notch, guys!
The Grease party had two floats, tons of costumed humans, and plenty of pugs.
Here’s my booth!
Here’s me in my Frida pug shirt, unable to take a nice photo.
These guys really knew how to bring it. They were so sparkly and perfect!
The Dream Girls float was really amazing. See those tiny microphones? Coated with peanut butter (or something) so it appeared they were singing. Too cute!
I had a chance to meet these two ladies, too. They’re dressed as the song “My Favorite Things” from the Sound of Music. (The pugs are brown paper packages tied up with string. Er, burlap in this case. It was hot that day!)
And this is just a tiny, tiny part. I don’t even have a good photo of the Willy Wonka pugs and people! (Picture if you will pug Oompa Loompas. A pug blueberry. Floats. The whole nine yards!) The Oregon Humane Society has even more (and actually good!) photos for you.
